Gumboot Friday – Sione and Hoho

Kia Ora,

Today in TWP we learnt about Gumboot Friday. We have been learning why Gumboot Friday helps kids around New Zealand. Gumboot Friday, which is recognised on the 4th of November, helps kids around New Zealand get more social by telling their friends what they are going through and they can get help from their friends. When some people are suffering around New Zealand from loneliness, some people around New Zealand are having the time of their lives. Mike King the founder of the Gumboot Friday fundraiser, has 6 children and won the New Zealander Of The Year Award in 2019. Shockingly a high rate of New Zealand children die from committing suicide. Something I learnt today was that everyone has mental health because we all feel emotions. Here Is My Activity!

Sione – Google Earth Landmarks

Good Afternoon,

Today for cyber-smart we looked at 6 landmarks in Auckland. The landmarks I chose were the Sky Tower, Auckland War Memorial Museum, Auckland Zoo, Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tamaki, Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour and Sea Life Kelly Tarlton’s Aquarium. The place I chose to present today on my blog is the Sky Tower, because the Sky Tower is the most well known landmark in Auckland. Here Is my Activity!

Sione – Google My Maps Aku Māhere Kūkara

Good Morning,

Today for Cyber-smart TWP6 used Google My Maps to find the different places we did for social studies for the past few weeks. For North Island we did Auckland, Wellington, Hamilton, Napier, New Plymouth and Taupō. We had to draw a landmark for each of these places. For Auckland I did the Sky Tower, for Wellington I did the National War Memorial, for Napier I did the Sound Shell, for Hamilton I did the Waikato River, for New Plymouth I did the clock tower and for Taupō I did Mine Bay Maori Rock Carving. Here Is My Activity!

Sione, Nasili, Diego, Briana, Pauline & Meela – What Are Double Glazed Windows?

What is double glazed window’s ?

A double glazed window is a window with two panes. The use of double glazed windows is to keep your house warmer in Winter and in Summer double glazed windows would keep you house cool and not hot. It is also used for less noise reduction so it if you live near a busy road it would be good for your house. We learnt about double glazed because we learnt of the technological process. The technological process is a set of instructions that evolve over time just like windows they changed to 2 panes in the new days and how buildings were made 100 years ago and how they are made now.

Thank you for enjoying our presentation of our slide.

Sione – Samoan Language Week

Manuia le aso, Talofa lava,

Hello everyone and happy Samoan Language Week! For Samoan Language Week we made a Samoan umu. An umu is a traditional method of cooking food, it is mostly used in the Pacific Islands. We learnt that the umu mostly uses “thermal energy”. The first thing we did in our day was have a Samoan prayer, took a group photo, checked on the umu and then had a very competitive game f kilikiti! Kilikiti is a Samoan version of cricket. The bat is a lot different because it’s more heavy and harder to swing.

The boys did the Siva afi – fire dance but we didn’t light the sides on fire we just practised spinning the stick and the form of how to spin the stick.

Something I enjoyed doing today was learning how to play Samoan cricket and I liked eating the food.

Here are the pictures.

Sione – Smart Footprint – Scenario Freeze Frames

Today in TWP 6 we did Smart footprints, we had three scenarios to do. Each scenario was different because it had different texts, different emotions and different people/names. The first scenario we had to do was a scenario about two people getting an email saying free games one of them was clueless and confused and the other one was excited and happy.

The second scenario was about a person named Rosalie getting negative and nasty comments about her on her blog and she felt angry and sad because and she has a friend named Sammy and he stood up for her and said “who do they think they are”. Rosalie replied to the person who wrote that nasty comment with unkind things.

The third scenario was about a person named Percy who was feeling down because he was seeing other people’s work and he was disappointed at his self just because he thought he wasn’t good enough and he thought he couldn’t produce such good work like the others. While Percy was upset about not producing good work his friend, Atū was on his netbook doing his work until he saw his friend Percy was upset. Atū comforted him. Here are the freeze frames.

Sione – What We Share & Poster About Me

Today for cyber smart I did cyber smart challenge 12 and 16. In cyber smart challenge 12 I had to put what we share in public and what we don’t share. In cyber smart 16 we had to create a poster about ourselves but not personal information. Here Is My Activity!

Sione – Cyber Smart Challenge 1 : Kawa Of Care

Today my class and I did the Cyber smart challenge 1 – Kawa of care. For this challenge we had to answer things to make sure we know how to treat our chrome books and how to make sure you do the right things with it like not eating and drinking in front of your chrome book because if you spill a drink on your chrome book it could break and cost a lot of money to fix. We had to do 3 posters with different questions and different types of answers. Here Is My Activity!

St Patrick’s Sports Day

On the 17th of March Saint Pius Celebrated the feast day of Saint Patrick’s. After the mass that we had for Saint Patrick’s day we had a sport’s day that was filled with a lot of fun activities including Soccer dribbling, Relay’s, a game that was like t – ball but we hit the ball off from a cone and there were different types of balls, we also played cone toss. Before the sports day finished we had to get into groups. I was in group 4 going against group 3, group 3 was pretty tough to beat but we won all the activities against them. Before the sports day we had to get changed into green shirts.

T-Ball

On the t-ball game if you hit it far then you would get 20 points for your team, my team which was team 4 scored over 100 points and the team 3 scored 0 points because none of them could hit the ball far enough. The teacher that was running the t-ball was Mr Gaffeny. T-Ball was one of my favourite activities because it was fun to hit the ball very far.

Whats your favourite sport?

My Self-Portrait – Sione

Today in TWP we are learning to draw a portrait of ourselves. The first step of drawing our portrait was to draw the lines of symmetry one line through the middle and one line coming from the top to the bottom of the page. The second step to drawing our portraits was to draw the shape of our heads and the marks for where we are going to put the eyes, nose and mouth. The third step was to draw our ears and our shoulders, for the ears we had to draw it from the eyes to the nose and for the shoulders it was pretty simple you just had to draw shoulders and I just added my school emblem. The fourth step was to look at our photos that we had taken and add the eyes, nose and mouth. The fifth and last step was to do some shading like on our pictures there were some dark spots on our face so we shaded those dark spots. Something that was difficult doing this activity was making the shapes the same size. Something I found easy was to draw my hair  because my hair is not that difficult to draw.

What would be difficult for you? and what would be easy for you?
